Alaska Adventure ToursAlaska adventure tours are some of the most breathtaking travel experiences you will ever have.  Northern lights, stunning scenery, amazing animals and a thrilling variety of things to see and do will fill many of your photo and video libraries.  There’s a number of very large national parks in Alaska, but you could fill your entire Alaska adventure experiencing one — Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.  It’s gigantic and over 2 million acres.  Hiking the many trails will have you literally stopping and staring at sights every day of your hike.  This treasure of a park was opened in 1941 and then known as the Kenai Moose Range.  Designated as a national park in 1980, it’s the perfect launch for your Alaska adventure travel.

Alaska Adventure Tours Highlights At Kenai

One main feature of the Kenai National Park is Harding Ice Field.  This vast are is more than eight hundred square miles in size, and one of the wonders of Alaska.  This field is one of the remaining spots to see glacial ice which is over ten thousand years old!  Park visitors can also access Skilak Lake, which reaches 4 miles across and is fifteen miles long.  Right in the middle of the lake is Frying Pan Island.  The lake is five hundred and twenty-eight feet deep and consists of water so clear it seems bottomless.

Many fishermen and women visit the area  every year to cast their luck into the Kenai River, which runs right through the park.  Chino, coho and pink salmon are just a few of the fish who call this river home.  Wandering around the huge expanse of the park, visitors find moose, black bears, brown bears, and sheep.  Lots of rare and interesting birds fly over and live in Kenai.  Guests in the park may see a bald eagle, and there are several other rare and endangered and protected species in the area.

Other Alaska Adventure Tours Activities

Thrill seekers will be kept occupied in Alaska, and as much or as little as they want to.  Tons of outdoor activities are presented as opportunities to explore this fascinating park in Alaska.  Using a canoe or kayak, visitors enjoy the lakes and rivers in this northernmost U.S. state.  If guests feel very adventurous, there’s an eighty-two mile trek down the Kenai River.  After they pull the boats up onto the shores of the river, they can fish for their dinner and perhaps catch a King Salmon — rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, so they can renew their energy for the next day’s adventure.  The largest (at least, thought to be) King Salmon was caught on the Kenai Rover and it weighed a huge ninety-seven pounds, 4 ounces.

Other Things on Your Alaska Adventure Tours

A rare sea-going mammal is sometimes seen swimming up the Kenai and this is the white Beluga Whale.  See one of these animals feeding and you’d think you were in a fairy tale!  Keep your camera ready and your eyes and ears open, and your Alaska Adventure Tours trip will provide you with enough memories to last a lifetime
